First Sachse began in a tent in 1953 by Billy Harris and a handful of congregants. Bro. Billy served for 40 years, six others have served after him.
Four sanctuaries were built on the original campus site of First Baptist Sachse. That campus was sold in 2023 to relieve debt. A new 7-acre property was purchased in February 2026, and First Sachse is currently in the preconstruction phase of building a new facility. For now, we meet in Whitt Elementary.
First Sachse upon its inception was in fellowship with the Southern Baptist Convention, however we removed our association with the SBC in April 2026. We choose to cooperate at the state and local level with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Dallas Baptist Association.
First Sachse congregants’ hold various positions on the spectrum of Baptist beliefs but are unified in the mission of the church. The church members describe themselves as faithful, friendly, compassionate, and welcoming. The current worship style is a blend of traditional and contemporary styles.

First Sachse utilizes a committee-led leadership structure. The 3 standing committees are the Church Council, the Finance Committee, and the Personnel Committee. Both women and men serve on all committees.
The Church Council is made up of staff (includes pastor), deacons, and ministry leaders, is accountable to the congregation, and oversees the other committees. The Church Council holds monthly member meetings to gather and/or to present information and to vote on matters as necessary. We are committed to collaborative leadership and transparency between leadership and congregants.
Committees and ministries are responsible for decision making that directly affects their respective area. However, for large financial decisions or decisions that have church-wide effects, committees will make these decisions in cooperation with the Church Council.
-
Greatest Strengths: First Sachse has proven to be a friendly and welcoming church body with a faithful and generous spirit.
Greatest Needs & Challenges: First Sachse strives to continue to build our reputation in the community. Additionally, within the church, an intentional discipleship program as well as pastoral care and deacon ministry are needed.
First Sachse is committed to adhering to the Baptist faith, having open communication and accountability between leadership and congregants, and maintaining a family-like atmosphere in our gatherings. These are things we are not likely to want to change. However, we are flexible and open to new ministry ideas and initiatives that would help us more effectively make disciples and minister to our community.
